Dipali Sashital grew up surrounded by engineers, including ones in her own home. The Detroit-native's father was an automotive engineer for Ford, like many others around her. Sashital used to go into work with her father on Saturday's, and eventually interned at the carmaker while in high school. While there she realized that she wasn't that interested in engineering, but discovered that research was a passion. And she's currently following that passion, studying bacterial immune systems at Iowa State's new Cryo-EM Facility.
