TurretinFan has officially reached 100 formal debates—spanning more than 17 years of theological and apologetic engagement.

In this special episode, we look back over those 100 debates and discuss some of the highlights, memorable exchanges, toughest opponents, favorite topics, lessons learned, and how TurretinFan’s approach to debating has developed over the years.

The debates stretch from his 2009 debate on the Latria/Dulia distinction with William Albrecht all the way to debate #100: “Does Regeneration Precede Faith?”, a 2v2 featuring TurretinFan and C. Jay Cox against Chuck Kraus and Dan Chapa.

Along the way, TurretinFan has debated an extraordinary range of theological issues, including:

• Roman Catholicism — Sola Scriptura, justification, the canon, purgatory, the Mass, transubstantiation, Marian doctrines, icons, the papacy, and more
• Calvinism and Soteriology — predestination, Romans 9, limited atonement, effectual calling, regeneration, perseverance, compatibilism, and the warning passages of Hebrews
• Hell and Annihilationism
• Free Grace Theology and Lordship Salvation
• Eastern Orthodoxy
• The King James Version and textual criticism
• Unitarianism and the deity of Christ
• Open Theism
• Islam

The numbers themselves tell part of the story: 36 debates concerning Roman Catholicism, 25 concerning Calvinism, 10 involving Free Grace theology, and numerous debates on the biblical text, hell, Eastern Orthodoxy, and other issues. TurretinFan has faced William Albrecht alone nearly 30 times, in addition to debates with dozens of other opponents representing widely different theological traditions.

But this episode is about more than statistics. We’ll talk about the debates that stand out, arguments that proved especially important, unexpected moments, things TurretinFan might do differently today, and what he has learned from engaging serious opponents in public theological debate.

Join us as we celebrate 100 debates and look back at a remarkable body of Christian apologetic and theological discussion.
