In January 2004, two robotic explorers – the Spirit and Opportunity rovers – landed on the Red Planet for a 90-day mission. Spirit ended up operating for six years, and Opportunity explored for nearly 15 years. Two decades later, the extraordinary accomplishment of the Mars Exploration Rovers is felt and celebrated around the world.
