The Common Specification for Information Packages (CSIP) outlines the principles and requirements for the transfer of an information package. Information packages are filled with content that is defined by a Content Information Type Specification (CITS).

The session will begin with a short but detailed insight into METS (the Metadata Encoding and Transmission Standard) and how it is used to create a package that adheres to the CSIP with its extensions to SIP/AIP/DIP. This will be followed by an exploration of the different ways that standards are used to create a CITS that describes the content being placed in an information package.
