Previously listed as audio from the lost TV broadcast from November 2, 1969, Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, London, England (the Lyons/Rivers/Taylor/Cyrille Unit), it seems that this is in fact a recording from seven years earlier: audio from another lost TV broadcast, made in Stockholm on October 14, 1962, for which the Lyons-Taylor-Murray Unit are joined by bassist Kurt Lindgren, and are listed as playing an untitled improvisation, 'Flamingo' and 'What's New'. (Full information at: ttps://jdisc.columbia.edu/session/cecil-taylor-october-14-1962) These recordings, but not 'What's New', were released as the bootleg 'The Early Unit' by Italian label Ingo (inconstantsol.blogspot.com/2011/01/cecil-taylor-jazz-unit-early-unit-1962.html).
During October, the Taylor-Lyons-Murray trio performed at the Golden Circle; on November 16th, they played at an unknown location in Copenhagen (another TV broadcast, with audio released as 'Four' on the Ayler 'Holy Ghost' box set) and on November 23rd, at the Cafe Montmartre--the sessions released as 'Nefertiti: The Beautiful One Has Come').
"This session is listed on the Cecil Taylor Research Group source. There is a tape of the radio broadcast tape available. There was also a TV broadcast recorded in Stockholm with the same quartet, and it is believed that the radio broadcast and TV broadcast were recorded at the same time. The source derived its information from Jan Strom and Ed Hazell's unpublished Taylor sessionography."
