Here's the complete broadcast of the first-run premiere episode of the short-lived Square Pegs - the pilot (S01E01), as aired on the CBS Network over WBBM Channel 2.

This program, an early starring vehicle for Sarah Jessica Parker (many years before HBO's Sex and the City), also co-starred Amy Linker, Merritt Butrick, John Femia, Tracy Nelson (Rick's daughter; years before co-starring in Father Dowling Mysteries), Jami Gertz (another one who went on to somewhat "bigger and better things" - and B.T.W., a Chicago native), Claudette Wells, Jon Caliri, Dawn Jeffory and Ben Marley, and was created and produced by onetime Saturday Night Live writer Anne Beatts.

In this installment, best friends Patty Greene (Parker) and Lauren Hutchinson (Linker), new students at Weemawee High School, are anxious to fit in with the other students and become popular, and Patty in particular gets her chance when she attracts the attention of a handsome senior. Also starring Basil Hoffman, David Hubbard, Carol Androsky, and new wave band The Waitresses.

(NOTE: About 30 seconds of The Waitresses performing "I Know What Boys Like" during the episode (which surprisingly is not listed in the Wikipedia article for the song) had to be modified, to prevent YouTube blocking. Also, the opening credits were flown in from another source as they started late on the original recording.)

Includes:

Opening titles, followed directly by prologue

Commercials for:

Coca-Cola - "Coke Is It!"

Dial soap

Act I

Commercials for:

MoistureWear by Cover Girl (with Stefanie Powers)

Eveready Energizer batteries (no bunny yet) - "Energized for Life!"

Promo for Bring 'Em Back Alive and "The Shadow Riders" (voiceover by Brad Crandall)

Act II

Commercials for:

Super Strength Clearasil (with Diane McDaniel)

Finesse conditioner

Promo for "Drop-Out Father" (with now-centenarian Dick Van Dyke) (voiceover by Mark Elliott)

Promo for Private Benjamin (voiceover by Rick Dees)

Epilogue and ending credits with (sadly?) no CBS voiceover over The Waitresses' ending number, titled - what else - "Square Pegs"

Incomplete promo for Wednesday lineup including the short-lived TV version of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (voiceover by Mark Elliott), before recording ends

"It all breaks down into cliques..."

This aired on local Chicago TV on Monday, September 27th 1982 during the 7:00pm to 7:29pm timeframe.
