This is a game made intentionally in the style of a Nintendo 64 platformer. I had to play it since I’m a big fan of these types of games. But unfortunately, I’m not too impressed. It does mimic the graphical style and it keeps the gameplay simple with the focus on exploration – which I like. But it does suffer from some horrible moments. There was one section in particular where I spent half an hour hitting a switch to race to a door that opened with a very tight time limit. The time was incredibly tight and it was annoying having to restart over and over,usually because of a failure in the controls. The cut-scene would play every time I hit the switch which wastes more time. I eventually did it , but found out much later that an item appears that lets you get to the door much, much easier. If this was the way it should have been done, they should have made the way I did it, obviously impossible. This laid me up for a couple of other sections where I tried over and over again on sections I couldn’t do yet because I thought the game was ruthlessly unforgiving.
The game is pretty short but a final level popped up that surprised me and made the game time last a bit longer.
Some of the puzzles in the game are surprisingly hard. The game really does make you try everything, regardless how stupid it might seem.
It’s nice that you can’t actually die from being hit, but it is very frustrating being knocked of a platform and spawning at the last entrance.
It’s good attempt at this style of game but I would have expected better 30 years later.
