We take a look at my new cave spider farm tutorial for Minecraft: Java Edition 1.17. It supports both loot & XP; cheap as well. Unfortunately this will not work for Bedrock Edition- as the mechanics are a bit different.
Why share this design when my first design still works? Because this one helps overcome the entity cramming rule, so you can stack more spiders. Also, the stonecutter provides a unique mechanic that I wanted to share with the community. This is likely my best spider grinder design I've made- just because it's so cheap; that was a huge focus for me when building.
NOTE: This was originally designed in 1.16 snapshots, but has been tested in 1.16 official and 1.17 official- still works since 1.17.1 update.
-------------DISCLAIMERS-------------
- This ONLY works in Java. Not Bedrock or Consoles.
- Tested in a 1.16 snapshot, but that's not official release.. Something minor could change and break; though I highly doubt it. I'll let you know if something happens. UPDATE: Tested in official 1.16/1.17 - Works!
- This is an "experimental" design.. It hasn't been extensively tested, but thus far (from my own testing), works great.
- I'll compile a FAQ once questions start rolling in.
-------------MATERIALS LIST-------------
~ = Estimated amount (what I'd pack).
~x64 Torches (for clearing mineshaft tunnel & spawner room)
x2 Water buckets (make infinite water source just in case)
x2 or x3 Soul Sand (2 if default design or 3 for optional design)
x2 or x3 Hoppers (2 if default design or 3 for optional design)
x2 Stairs
x2 Chest
x6 Slab
x2 Stonecutter
x7 Trapdoor
Optional:
~x5 Milk bucket (clear poison effect)
~x32 Food (Saturation when getting tanked by spiders; steak for early game)
x1 Bow with arrows (Less CQC)
-------------DIMENSIONS WALKTHROUGH-------------
Some people prefer information in text form.. As for dimensions:
- 4 air blocks between wall and spawner on each side.
- A block sits on top of the spawner to block spider traps on top.
- 4 air blocks between floor and spawner.
-------------CAN I USE THIS IN MY CONTENT?-------------
If you're producing a "Let's Play" series, then feel free to build it & record. However, I ask you to not reproduce a tutorial on this SPECIFIC design. If you are willing to add to it & make better- go for it. Just please don't reproduce with obvious additions (lighting system, etc).. It's a waste of space on the web & you'd be stealing all the hard work I put into the research for mechanics / optimization of resources. Be a team player in the community, not a ripoff peeps.
