Cathy Parrott (01BA), an associate costume designer for Broadway, film, and live television, discusses her work with A-list actors on the stage and big screen.

Initially a pre-dentistry major at the University of Iowa, Parrott discusses her journey from Iowa City to the Big Apple—and shares her experiences from such productions as Lin-Manuel Miranda’s upcoming film adaptation of In the Heights.

A Manchester, Iowa, native, Parrott has worked on more than 45 productions across the globe and collaborated with Hugh Jackman and Emmy Award-winning costume designer Ellen Mirojnick for 2017 blockbuster The Greatest Showman. Parrott has also assisted on Broadway hits such as On Your Feet: The Story of Emilio and Gloria Estefan and Motown: The Musical, as well as an unreleased production about Princess Diana.

Chat from the Old Cap is a series of virtual engagement sessions featuring Iowa alumni and friends sharing stories from their careers, backgrounds, and the university that unites us. See upcoming events for alumni and friends: foriowa.org/events
