Now here's an interesting combination. If a Pokemon is too light weight, the Heavy Ball will yield a penalty to your capture instead of aiding.
Chien-Pao has a base catch rate of six. The Heavy Ball penalty is minus twenty. This gives us a net -14 catch rate. In Sun and Moon and ONLY Sun and Moon, this made the capture always fail. In other games in the series, it's still possible, just really really unlikely. And so I watched to get Chien-Pao in that ball as it's rather fitting.
Brute Bonnet with a Fighting Tera type resists whatever Chien-Pao can throw my way, and so I changed the Tera Type just for this. It was a long fight, but man was it worth it in the end. I'm very happy with this. A fine addition to my collection in gen 9!
