With the strict protective slot between 20 and 29 inches and the newly introduced 3 fish daily bag limit, #WalleyeFishing on the #WisconsinRiver has definitely seen some changes. Many (myself included) consider for the better. This year's #RiversEdge Walleye Fishing Contest featured more than 130 anglers young and old from the area and all the way from Illinois. Many fished from shore, and there were many boats as well. Andy and the family were very welcoming, and the organization was excellent as always. I only had Saturday night and Sunday morning to fish. Yesterday I kept a limit of Walleyes and lost a slob in the current, that smacked a crankbait (later lost it's lip on someone's sturgeon rig) that I was unable to overpower and turn. It shook the lure off.
Today was bright and sunny, and fish were far less cooperative. Managed only 2 keepers and this slot with several shorts (both eyes and saugers) also got a Rockbass on a keitech in chartreuse and ⅛oz jig by Eagle Eye.
Fun times. Glad to meet all the regular river rats.
