Cartesian Divers are a great way to teach about pressure, mass, volume, and density. The Catch and Release Diver is guaranteed to get anyone hooked on science! The soda bottle houses two divers; one floats and has a hook while the other sinks to the bottom and has a loop. Explore fun and science as you squeeze the bottle, increasing the pressure on the elements inside. As the pressure increases, the air inside the diver compresses, allowing more water to enter the diver, increasing its mass (and therefore its density). If you initially added the correct amounts of water to each of the divers, when you hook the bottom diver and then you release the pressure and the mass decreases, the hook diver should rescue the loop diver from the bottom of the bottle.
