Description: Electrolysis of iron(II) chloride solution with a copper -ve electrode and a carbon +ve electrode. With copper, iron forms and is attracted to the magnet. As the iron ions in solution are used up, the secondary reaction takes place with hydrogen being evolved. There is no chlorine evolved at the anode.
