Cataloochee Campground has 27 standard non electric campsites with the added convenience of flush toilets and drinking water near the entrance. There are no hookups or showers at the campground. When pulling travel trailers it is important to know that the road leading to Cataloochee Campground has some steep grades with several hairpin, blind curves. The road is usually in good shape but it is partially gravel or unpaved.

Overview

Cataloochee campground is located in the historic Cataloochee Valley in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
Cataloochee Campground is surrounded by beautiful mountain ranges with lots of hiking trails. There are also crystal clear mountain streams that offer Rainbow and Brook trout fishing.
Cataloochee Campground is a bear habitat and Elk are frequently seen in this part of the park, during the spring and fall.

From I-40 take Exit 20 in North Carolina. Turn right onto Cove Creek Road and follow to the Park boundary. The road goes from pavement to gravel to pavement. Upon reaching the pavement the second time, turn left. Go 2.5 miles to an intersection and continue another .5 miles to the left.
