When I first heard about Cat Park - a free, browser-based game allegedly designed to help players recognize and counter disinformation, I was... intrigued. Seeing as the US government is supporting what seems to be anything but the actual 'right' thing these days, I couldn't hold my curiosity back on this one.
The idea of using a video game to "educate" people was boring enough on the surface... But after spending about 30 minutes playing the game, I realized that Cat Park is anything but a tool to fight against disinformation. Instead, it felt like the playbook on how to use disinformation to push an agenda and manipulate public sentiment. Thankfully it's stupid & boring af... But that doesn't change the fact that real tax dollars (to a tune of $275,000!) were used in attempt to manipulate thought...
