Chronologically the first episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series, "Cat & Mouse" does a lot of subtle work in establishing why the Jedi, and specifically Anakin Skywalker, are given such high leadership roles in the Grand Army of the Republic in the early days of the Clone War.

Obi-Wan and Anakin must deliver supplies to Christophsis while the planet is under Separatist control. They encounter Separatist Commander Admiral Trench and get more than they bargained for.
