There's been some updates to the GTAV Speedrun since I started Casual VS Speedrun, so here's a video that compares the old speedrun to the new strats. Not a full "world record progression" video but kind of like it.

I love the Speedrunning community for strats like this. When I used to race in GTA Online, everyone was very secretive of their techniques, tricks and glitches. This is my first game I've done speedruns of, and I love how open everyone is. People are excited to share strats and improve on them together instead of hide them away for personal use. There was an explosion of new strats about 2/3rds through the Casual VS Speedrun in GTAV series, but most of them made it into the main videos. These are just a few stragglers that were from the early missions or found within the past month. There was a period of like 2 weeks where every day there were two or more strat updates, it was insane. Hopefully with another explosion of strats sometime we can get into sub-6hr territory.

I am playing as both the casual player and the speedrunner, so it's like facing against myself with a 10 foot pole. For the casual player, I play the game as if I've watched a GTA V speedrunner play the game once or so, so I know the mission order and where to go between missions, then play the missions as the game instructs you, giving the most shockingly average gameplay you've ever seen.
The Classic% Category in GTAV Speedrunning is the most competitive category, you can see the leaderboards and view all the details and rules here if you so wish: speedrun.com/gtav
