A grandiose brick structure with a vaguely trapezoidal shape, complete with moat and tower, the castle is the result of a stratification of interventions that occurred over the centuries. Of the original construction only a portion of the walls and the base of the square tower remain, parts that have also been modified on several occasions. Subsequent structural modifications and additions of buildings occurred between the 14th and 18th centuries, initially aimed at strengthening the fortification works (the construction, subsequently remodeled, of the square-shaped bastion that dominates the access to the town from the road coming from Cassine probably dates back to the late 15th century) and from the 18th century tending to transform the castle into the noble residence of the Ferrari marquises, a function that the majestic building performed until the middle of the last century.
