POYO INTENSIFIES.

This arrangement is special to us for a variety of reasons. In addition to, and because of, it being essentially a tune with a simple 16-bar form we can play over, the underlying harmony allows for some interesting and exploratory improvisation... SO WE TOOK IT TO SESSION MODE. Being the 2nd stage on Kirby's Dream Land (original Game Boy version) with a minor boss fight at the end, it doesn't seem like this song carries that much importance, but when we heard the melody specifically, something about Woody Shaw came to mind, and the idea to go right into burn-out swing was born. As we say all the time, we live in New York City, and anyone who's been to a NYC jazz club knows that energy you feel walking downstairs into Smalls Jazz Club at 1:30 AM, and being blasted by up tempo swing tunes played by musicians who give everything they've got, with seemingly no limit. THIS is that energy. You'll see some trading from Max and Pat, and some burning bebop accordion right out the gate. I guess that's maybe the only bit of difference you may not see every day at the sessions in NYC...
