The OMA Ironic speaker is an open baffle design made of approximately 330 lbs of a special type of soft, non resonant grey cast iron (hypo eutectic high graphite content iron.) It employs a 15" field coil paper cone woofer and a custom, extreme high efficiency (110db/1w/1m at 10kHz) neodymium ribbon tweeter, mounted to the rear of the casting. The unique design was made possible by new 3D printing of the sand mold, each of which is destroyed in the casting process. Nonetheless, the speaker would be impossible to make using traditional pattern molding techniques.
