*How to cast onto a ring using the Clove Hitch Method when net making.*
When you are making a purse net or a round net, the first thing you will want to do is to cast onto a ring. Two methods that I use are the Cow Hitch Method for casting onto a ring, or the Clove Hitch Method.

Before I start using the the Clove Hitch Method of casting onto a ring, I need to attach the line to the ring, for doing this, I use one of these two knots (un-slipped):

I personally find them very quick and easy to tie!
*Ashley's Book of Knots* 400 shows the Clove Hitch method of casting onto a headline. "400. The Clove Hitch (# 1177) is the customary knot with which to tie the first tier of meshes to the headline of a net."
