Meet Lutz and Stian, a German-Norwegian artist duo. For Ullerntunet, a residential and treatment centre in Oslo for patients with dementia, L+S wanted to create something that would express the concepts of time and memory. The artists decided to cast a bronze tree that would be planted alongside its live inspiration, outside the hospital, with a cut that allows passersby to see part of the original tree behind the sculpture. This way, the design allows viewers to compare similarities and later differences as the original tree continues to grow. In addition it gives the tree an unreal and incomplete aspect, almost like a memory or dream. Here is how L+S realized their project using 3D Printing.
