I bought this absolute nightmare of a cassette changer with the plan to bring it back to life.
Man did it need a lot more work than I thought! I recorded the intro before I did the repair, it was much worse than I thought it was going to be. The most frustrating thing was really just that the repair-test cycle was so slow on the decks because of how many cables there are in the way. If it hadn't been for that, it wouldn't have been so bad.
I still don't know for sure what the previous owner was trying to do that made them tear the whole thing apart like that. Nothing was broken in the changer area. Perhaps they were trying to extract a cassette that was stuck in the deck of the changer. That's my best guess for now.
It's fun to have it working though. It's a stupidly complicated device which makes it all the more fun.
