Every October, The North Carolina Arboretum hosts it's annual Carolina Bonsai Expo. Clubs ranging from South Carolina to Pennsylvania to Tennessee & others join together to display & learn during the largest bonsai expo in the Southeast region. As the representative of Roanoke, Virginia's Hinoki Bonsai Club, I was able to display our member's trees, and participate in the many workshops. Guest artists & speakers included Dan Robinson and Jim Doyle. An excellent and consistently humorous demonstration was done by curator Arthur Joura and artists John Geanangle and Ken Duncan. Toward the end of the last day, the auction took place with Jim Doyle, Randy Clarke, and the affable Bob Hampel taking turns as auctioneer. All proceeds benefit the Arboretum's organization and continued education of the public.
