The origin of the Carolina Bays has been debated for almost 90 years, but something that is seldom mentioned is that the Carolina Bays have mathematically elliptical morphology. Since ellipses are conic sections, this implies that the Carolina Bays originated as inclined conical cavities or penetration funnels.
