Canada-US discussions continue amid reports of tariff reductions
Canadian and US trade negotiators are meeting again today as both sides attempt to finalize a provisional deal. Donald Trump said the agreement would remove all Canadian tariffs on US agricultural exports while reducing US tariffs on Canadian goods "a little bit." The deal, however, mostly remains a mystery, with unanswered questions about US access to Canada's dairy market as well as the new rules surrounding autos, steel, lumber and other crucial industries. US media, however, have reported that US tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum will be reduced from 50 per cent to 25 per cent, while the tariff on non-US auto content is reportedly set to drop from 25 per cent to 15 per cent.
