Konnakkol art is much more than just a teaching tool for lessons, fusion show, and percussion ensembles. It can be a very fitting accompaniment to singing and playing in our traditional concert style because it is a powerful, captivating, and emotionally charged type of performance art. The dolu scholar actor Sri Mannargudi Pakkiraya Pillai (Konnakkol Pakkiri) was the first to establish the roots of this practice.
