Next up on Carhartt WIP Radio is the German label Workshop, known for enchanting minimal house and other esoteric expressions of electronic music. Founded by producers and DJs Lowtec and Even Tuell in 2006, the label has established itself as a globally treasured platform for house music made for intimate, offbeat dancefloors.
Workshop’s music comes from its label runners Lowtec and Even Tuell, as well as friends like Leipzig’s Kassem Mosse, German electronic music veteran Move-D, Detroit producer Whodat, and Japanese artists like Kiki Kudo or Iku Sakan.
For Carhartt WIP Radio, Even Tuell and Lowtec conducted an almost three-hour long mix. Lowtec composed the first half, and Even Tuell the second, bringing past material, as well as unreleased and soon to be released Workshop music from the likes of UK producer Tapes, Frankfurt’s 808 Mate, Ital from New York, and their very own productions for Workshop and other labels like Lowtec’s iconic Out To Lunch imprint.
To accompany the show with Workshop secrets, Even Tuell and Lowtec gave us an extensive interview that offers an elaborate insight into their background and work. Together we discussed the origins of their label, raving after the Wall came down, and their own careers as solo artists.
