This is the Caret crochet beanie, so named because of the caret symbol that flows through out the hat and just screams texture! This is why I also call this a Textured Crochet Beanie Tutorial.
It's a textured crochet beanie that looks great on both men and women, but given the way the stitch is created, it makes it a certain size so this hat is made for adult's, though I bet a toddler could wear this easily if you just left off a few rows and made it shorter before starting the rim. I used to do this with a lot of hats that I would make for my kids when they were toddlers.
