We need your help - by August 1st - to speak out against tariffs that are making arts and crafts materials significantly more expensive.
Arts and crafts are not luxury items. They are essential outlets for mental health, creativity, and community, touching the lives of millions. But today, increasing tariffs on supplies from around the world are making it harder and more expensive to create.
A group of leading manufacturers recently traveled to Washington, D.C. to speak directly with members of Congress. While many lawmakers were receptive, they need to hear directly from you - our passionate community of artists, makers, and crafters.
This is not a political campaign. We don't represent any party or platform. We support freedom of expression, creativity, and accessibility for all.
Questions we are going to cover:
● What are tariffs, and why were they imposed on arts and crafts products from China?
● How do these tariffs affect the final price I pay for craft supplies?
● Are all craft products from China affected, or only certain categories?
● What percentage of arts and crafts products sold in the U.S. are actually made in China?
● Have these tariffs increased in 2024 or 2025, or are they still the same from previous years?
● Why hasn’t the U.S. government made an exception for the craft industry?
● How are other industries getting tariff relief, and why isn’t the same happening for ours?
● How does this tariff situation impact small craft businesses and independent creators?
● Is there a risk of supply shortages or delays due to these tariffs?
● Are companies moving production out of China to avoid tariffs? Where are they going?
● Why not just raise prices to cover the tariff costs?
● Are any companies eating the cost of tariffs to keep prices low for consumers?
● What is the difference between Section 301 tariffs and normal import duties?
● Has there been any progress on lobbying or industry efforts to get relief for the craft industry?
● Are there alternative suppliers or products that are tariff-free and just as good?
