The Tyrrell P34, famously known as the “six-wheeler,” was an innovative F1 car designed by Derek Gardner. Featuring four specially made 10-inch front wheels and two standard rear wheels, it became one of the most radical and recognisable designs in motorsport history.

In the 1976 season, the P34 claimed one win and nine podiums with drivers Jody Scheckter and Patrick Depailler. Scheckter left at the end of the season, calling the car “a piece of junk.” Further changes in 1977 made the car heavier and slower, leading Tyrrell to abandon the six-wheel concept.

Most surviving P34s now sit in museums, with only a few still appearing on track. Tony had always dreamed of owning one, and when this car came up for sale, he seized the opportunity. Not just a display piece, he plans to run it regularly at demonstration events around the world.

See it on track at the NAPA 70th New Zealand Grand Prix - 31st Jan - 1st Feb!
