The Advance-Design series was Chevrolet’s first major post-WWII truck redesign, launched on June 28, 1947. Marketed as larger, stronger, and sleeker than the previous AK Series, the trucks remained in production—with minor updates—until March 25, 1955.

This design was used across Chevrolet’s truck range, including the Suburban, panel trucks, canopy express, and cab-overs. While cab-overs shared the basic cab and grille, their shorter, taller hood and unique fenders required a custom cowl, making them incompatible with standard cabs.

About This 1949 Chevrolet 3100
Originally equipped with a 216 cu in (3.5L) engine and manual transmission, this 3100 has been fully restomodded for modern performance. It now features a 350 cu in (5.7L) V8, Mustang II front suspension with power steering, disc brakes, and air conditioning. The interior includes vintage-style gauges and updated upholstery—all completed in the U.S.
