The STR13 was raced by Brendon Hartley in the 2018 FIA Formula One World Championship and marked a major shift for the team, switching from Renault to Honda engines for the first works-supported season. Powered by a 1.6L Honda RA618H Turbo Hybrid producing an estimated 900+ hp, with Red Bull Technology 8-speed paddle-shift gearbox, carbon fibre tub chassis, and Halo cockpit protection, the car had a top speed of 340 km/h at Monza. The team retained Pierre Gasly and Brendon Hartley, debuting the car in Australia in the signature dark blue and red livery.
The season started promisingly, with Gasly scoring fourth in Bahrain and Hartley achieving a season-best 6th in qualifying at Suzuka, but reliability issues and a lack of competitiveness saw the team finish 9th in the World Championship with 33 points. Hartley scored points in Azerbaijan, Germany, and the US Grand Prix before being dropped from the 2019 squad, while Gasly moved briefly to Red Bull Racing. Key figures included Team Principal Franz Tost, Technical Director James Key, and Deputy Technical Director Jody Egginton.
