How much energy can these used lithium batteries store?
I'm running a capacity test on my DIY battery build. This is from a used Smart Fortwo EV battery. The battery was in very rough shape to when I bought it from a junkyard. I was able to take the battery apart and slowly revive the cells. This has been in the works for months.
I ran a window air conditioner overnight (22 hours) continuously. In the end we pulled 11 kwh! That's amazing! I didn't think we would get such good results given how bad the battery was to start with. WOW
The meter I'm using is from DROK, good for up to 100 amps. There is an amazon link below.
There are (6) 48 volt batteries all wired together in parallel. Each battery has it's own BMS board for safety. BMS stands for battery management system.
This lithium battery came out of a 2013 Smart Fortwo EV (electric vehicle). It will be used in my DIY Powerwall for back-up power if the grid goes down. Off-Grid.
