The session explored collective youth leadership to combat loneliness, empower advocacy, and create inclusive communities through compassionate action.
*Titled "Together We Thrive: Building Community for Collective Action,"* the session invited participants to tap into the power of Positive Youth Development (PYD) and rethink what leadership could look like in today's world. It moved away from traditional, top-down leadership models in favor of a fresh, inclusive approach that brought people together. The focus was on creating strong, connected communities capable of tackling the loneliness that many young people faced.
In this interactive workshop, participants engaged in activities that challenged their views on leadership. The session began with a quick dive into decolonized leadership—what it is, why it matters, and how to move from a "me" to a "we" mindset. Participants then had the opportunity to lead in a hands-on simulation, trying out different leadership styles and seeing firsthand how compassionate, collective action could make a real difference.
A lively group discussion followed, allowing participants to share their thoughts and experiences with traditional leadership models in diverse settings. Finally, they collaborated in a creative brainstorming session to develop actionable strategies for bringing compassionate leadership to life in their own communities.
By the end of the session, participants not only gained an understanding of how PYD and collective leadership could drive meaningful change but also walked away with concrete ideas and a plan to implement these strategies in their own communities.
