This Capacity Building Workshop presented by Zainab Bokhari was recorded on Thursday, October 17, 2024, during the Charter for Compassion's Global Youth Conference.
Most people felt deeply concerned about the pressing global issues of their time and recognized the need to communicate better, even across borders. Many of us listen to podcasts aligned with our values. Yet, many also have felt isolated in their care and longed for meaningful social connections and a desire for more collective actions. To meet this challenge, a special podcast circle was facilitated to deeply connect with caring individuals.
Participants engaged in small group dialogues to practice empathic dialogue and community-building skills. They connected around inspiring media content drawn from the podcast series entitled *The Science of Happiness*. The central character strength in this session was 'curiosity.'
These online sessions were facilitated in breakout groups of 3-4 participants to experience the depth, vulnerability, and courage necessary to nurture empathic dialogues across differences. All sessions were structured around dialogue agreements to create a safe environment for discussion.
The intended outcomes for participants were:
- an experience of meaningful peer connections
- an open space for uplifting dialogue around pressing issues
