CANTEEN CUP TUESDAY / MESS KIT COOKING | CHICKEN ENCHILADAS ON THE TRAIL
Today I will use my "mess kit" and "canteen cup" to make my version of "Chicken Enchiladas" and a warm cup of coffee next to a creek where it's very possible American patriots got water almost 250 years ago!
On November 19, 1775, the Revolutionary War made its way to the South Carolina backcountry. This first land battle of the war south of New England started when 1,900 loyalists attacked 600 patriots gathered at the area known as Ninety Six. After three days of fighting, things ended with a truce but not before the death of James Birmingham, the first South Carolina patriot to die in the war. Today, the park is a National Historic Site.
