It's H.264 compression really limits what you can push out of the camera.
A good example is by the actress eyes, it gets very dark and under the neck due to the lack of Dynamic Range in the sensor. I though I could push it up but not much information came out of the shadows besides noise. I know the CGI snow isn't the greatest but it added a little bit of life to the shot.
