I took a ride in the Candela C-7. Starts out like a regular boat but then uses hydrofoils to take off and the hull lifts out of the water for less friction. This allows the boat to go fast and still be power efficient. At the end of the ride you land and the hull splashes back down into the water.
The C-7 holds 6 people and goes 50 miles on a charge. It costs around $300,000.
