Robert Lyman is a former federal public servant and diplomat who sees Net Zero policies as 'economic suicide' for Canada. In this video, Michelle Stirling, our Communications Manager, reads through Lyman's notes and powerpoint. Lyman's concern is that the issues surrounding Canadian Climate policy are rarely presented to the public in terms that help people understand what the policy means for their lives.
Too often these issues are presented by governments and environmental interest groups as how we must respond to an impending global catastrophe, about which the science is “settled”, and about why we must all “do our bit” to help the world stop using fossil fuels as soon as possible.
This presentation does not deal with the scientific claims. Instead, Lyman challenges the logic behind the claims that Canadians need to sacrifice as part of a global effort, showing that no matter how extreme our sacrifice, the outcome would be meaningless, as developing nations outstrip our emissions and grow their own every year by leaps and bounds.
