In Canada's desert regions, the sun can bake the ground, making for some pretty uncomfortable temperatures. For this greater short horned lizard, every day is a juggling act.
Since she can't regulate her body temperature on her own, she has to find the right temperatures in her habitat which can vary by 30 degrees. Too cool in shadow, she has to do some sunbathing; too hot in the open, she makes a break for shade.
