Social media companies will have to block users below the age of 16 in Canada from having accounts on their platforms.
It’s part of a bill introduced Wednesday by the Canadian government to boost online safety.
Platforms would be able to seek exemptions from the under-16 ban.
They would have to show a new digital safety regulator that they have implemented sufficient safeguards to protect children.
