🇨🇦 CANADA | POUTINE 🍟⚽

Canada are helping host the biggest World Cup in history, and today I’m cooking one of their most iconic dishes: Poutine.

A dish born in Quebec in the 1950s
The name may mean a mess, but for Canadians it became a national treasure.

🏆 TASTE THE FOOTBALL

SHOPPING LIST
• 4 large potatoes
• 200g cheese curds
• 300ml beef stock
• 1 tbsp butter
• 1 tbsp plain flour
• Salt
• Black pepper
• Vegetable oil for frying

METHOD

1. Cut potatoes into thick chips.
2. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
3. Fry at 140°C until softened.
4. Remove and rest for 10 minutes.
5. Fry again at 180°C until golden and crispy.
6. Melt 1 tbsp butter in a saucepan.
7. Add 1 tbsp flour and cook for 1 minute to make a roux.
8. Gradually whisk in 300ml beef stock.
9. Simmer until thickened into a gravy.
10. Season with salt and pepper.
11. Place chips in a bowl.
12. Scatter over the cheese curds. (From @nealsyarddairy )
13. Pour over the hot gravy.
14. Serve immediately.

For years Canada watched the World Cup.

Now they’re helping host it.
