Many Android phones will soon have "Desktop Mode", but right now you need a Samsung Galaxy phone with DeX support – Samsung's incredibly cool and functional desktop UI. I've been using it exclusively over the last couple weeks, and ran into surprisingly few limitations – it pretty much allowed me to do all my daily tasks, right on my phone using DeX.
There is even a bit of an ecosystem around DeX – there are many portable monitors and even lapdocks you can get, if you want to use your phone as a laptop on the move. And here's where you can find some of the best ones out there right now (it's the two products I've been using):
