Can you find (\sqrt{x}+\sqrt{y}) without solving for (x) and (y) individually?
In Visual Maths Lab #13, we use a smart substitution:
(A=x+y)
(B=\sqrt{xy})
Then the given equations simplify beautifully using the difference of squares:
(A^2-B^2=(A-B)(A+B))
This is a great example of how algebra becomes much easier when you focus on the right expressions instead of trying to find every variable separately.
Watch till the end and try the “Your Turn” question yourself.
