In this video I melt about 11kg of scrap copper and turn it into clean copper ingots.
As scrap, this copper would sell for around €77 at the scrapyard.
But once melted and cast into ingots, it can be sold for around €40 per kg.
So the question is:
Can you actually make money melting scrap copper?
In this video I show the full process:
• melting the scrap copper
• casting the ingots
• cleaning them
• weighing the final result
• calculating the value
Of course this is before fees, gas, packaging and selling costs, but it shows how changing the form of the metal can create value.
