Joey Day (from a previous video) insists that only God can improve us. We are totally depraved, evil, natural beings. All our thoughts, desires, and actions tend towards sin, and we can do nothing good of ourselves. Therefore, speaking positive affirmations as a way to become better people will only result in us becoming more evil. Right?
But since God created a system whereby all our actions, habits, and character come from our thoughts and beliefs, what if positive affirmations are the system whereby God can, through his Holy Spirit, inspire us to have greater faith and become better people? Even if we are totally depraved and all good things must come from God, can't positive affirmations simply be one of those good things coming from God?
Perhaps the affirmations we speak are ungodly and inappropriate. But I have tried to show in my other videos that the affirmations I use are based on scriptural truths.
