Is an Alzheimer’s prevention possible? WashU researchers Jai Rudra and Meredith Jackrel are developing a groundbreaking immunotherapy that trains the immune system to clear amyloid deposits—the protein buildup driving Alzheimer's disease. Unlike treatments that only manage symptoms, this approach uses engineered peptides to target the root cause of cognitive decline. Backed by a major National Institute on Aging grant, this research marks a shift toward Alzheimer’s prevention and long-term brain health.
