In this video, I cut and polish a Queensland boulder opal featuring a very thin vein of precious opal running through the host rock.

This style of boulder opal is one of the most common materials beginners encounter. While the opal seam may look small, careful cutting and polishing can reveal surprising colour and create a beautiful finished stone.

Follow the complete process from rough material through to the final polish as I show the decisions involved in working with a narrow opal vein and discuss why this type of rough is ideal for building confidence and experience.
