I thought a simple composite video mod would be an easy weekend project for my Timex Sinclair 1000.

I was wrong.

In this video I take a look at the mess I created while attempting a popular composite mod that did not go according to plan. Instead of a quick upgrade, I ended up with a partially disassembled computer, a handful of questions, and a growing list of parts.

Fortunately, help is on the way. I recently received a package from J&M Consulting containing a new composite video kit, replacement keyboard, and several other upgrades that should help bring this little machine back to life.

This video serves as the introduction to a new restoration and upgrade series where we'll attempt to repair my earlier mistakes, install composite video output, replace the aging membrane keyboard, expand the onboard RAM, experiment with a custom ROM, and maybe even tackle one of the craziest ideas I've had yet: adapting a TI-99/4A keyboard to give the Timex Sinclair 1000 a real keyboard.

Whether this turns into a success story or an even bigger disaster remains to be seen.

Join me as we see just how far this little 8-bit machine can be pushed.
